Nuclear weapons are among the greatest threats to human life and to our planet – constant, yet invisible. How can we reduce the risk of everything ending in a single nuclear war? The subject has become too abstract, too distant from our everyday reality – yet it remains a crucial factor in our very existence.

Atomic Echoes seeks to make this abstraction tangible – to give the audience a small sense of what a nuclear explosion might feel like. The installation unfolds in three phases: before, during, and after the explosion. Sound moves from what can be heard to what can be felt – from the ear to the body, from perception to vibration.

The work employs a specially developed infra-loudspeaker capable of reaching as low as 13 Hz – frequencies no longer perceived as sound, but as physical movement. Together with a vibrating floor, the space becomes an auditory Ganzfeld – a field where the senses lose orientation and listening turns inward, into the body.

Atomic Echoes is an invitation to listen from within – to feel what we usually try to ignore.

تُعدّ الأسلحة النووية من أكبر التهديدات لحياة الإنسان وكوكبنا، فهي دائمة، وإن كانت خفية. كيف يُمكننا الحدّ من خطر انتهاء كل شيء بحرب نووية واحدة؟ لقد أصبح الموضوع مُجرّدًا للغاية، وبعيدًا جدًا عن واقعنا اليومي، ومع ذلك يبقى عاملًا حاسمًا في وجودنا ذاته.

يسعى عمل “أصداء ذرية” إلى جعل هذا التجريد ملموسًا، ليمنح الجمهور لمحةً ولو بسيطةً عن شعور الانفجار النووي. يتكشف العمل الفني على ثلاث مراحل: قبل الانفجار، وأثناءه، وبعده. ينتقل الصوت من ما يُمكن سماعه إلى ما يُمكن الشعور به – من الأذن إلى الجسم، ومن الإدراك إلى الاهتزاز.

يستخدم العمل مكبر صوت تحت صوتي مُطوّر خصيصًا، قادر على الوصول إلى ترددات منخفضة تصل إلى 13 هرتز – وهي ترددات لم تعد تُدرك كصوت، بل كحركة جسدية. مع أرضية تهتز، يُصبح الفضاء بمثابة “غانزفيلد سمعي” – مجال تفقد فيه الحواس اتجاهها، ويتجه الاستماع إلى الداخل، إلى الجسم.

“الأصداء الذرية” هي دعوة للاستماع من الداخل – للشعور بما نحاول عادةً تجاهله.
